XML to YAML
Convert an XML document into YAML: attributes preserved, repeated elements collapsed into lists, and the result indented the way a config file should be. Everything happens in your browser.
The conventions, so the output is predictable
Attributes become keys prefixed with @, which is what keeps <item id="1"> from colliding with a child element also called id. Two or more sibling elements with the same name become a list - and, unavoidably, a single occurrence does not, because one element is indistinguishable from a one-item list without a schema. Mixed content, where an element has both text and children, puts the text under #text.
What this is usually for
Moving older configuration onto newer tooling: an Ant or Maven file, a Spring context, an application descriptor. The output is a faithful transliteration rather than a translation into the target tool's schema, so treat it as the starting point it is.
