Clean HTML from a formatted paste
Paste from Word, Outlook, Google Docs or any web page and get HTML you would actually put in a CMS: the structure kept, the styling thrown away.
What "clean" removes
- class, id and style attributes - the generated

- Empty tags - paragraphs and spans with nothing inside, which is what produces mysterious vertical gaps.
- Scripts, styles and event handlers - always, before anything else runs.

Why not just use "Paste as plain text"?
Because that loses the headings, lists, links and tables too. This keeps the document's structure and drops only the styling, which is the split you usually want when moving content between systems.
