CSV to YAML
Turn a spreadsheet export into a YAML list.
Off keeps every value a string, which preserves leading zeros.
Paste CSV or TSV. Quoted fields, embedded commas and newlines are handled.
CSV to YAML
Paste CSV or TSV and get a YAML list: one entry per row, with the header row supplying the keys. The delimiter is detected from the first line, and quoted fields, embedded commas and newlines are parsed with a real RFC 4180 parser rather than split on a character.
Turn off type conversion for codes and IDs
With convert numbers and booleans on, 42becomes a number and true becomes a boolean, which is almost always what you want. Turn it off when a column holds identifiers that only look numeric - product codes, postcodes and phone numbers lose their leading zeros otherwise. Integers too large for JavaScript to represent exactly stay strings either way, rather than being silently rounded.
What this is usually for
Test fixtures, seed data and CI matrices. Someone keeps the list in a spreadsheet because that is where it is easy to edit, and the pipeline wants YAML. This is that step, without uploading the spreadsheet anywhere.
