Rich Text to Markdown
Paste from Word, Google Docs or a web page and get Markdown back.
Paste into the left pane. Formatting is read from the clipboard, not retyped.
Copy from anywhere, paste as Markdown
When you copy from Word, Google Docs, Notion, Confluence or a web page, the clipboard carries two versions of what you copied: the plain text, and an HTML version with all the formatting intact. A textarea throws the second one away. The left pane here keeps it, converts it, and gives you Markdown.
Headings stay headings, bold stays bold, links keep their URLs, numbered and bulleted lists keep their nesting, and tables come across as GitHub-flavored Markdown tables.
Why the output is cleaner than a normal paste
Word and Google Docs wrap every run of text in a<span> carrying an inline font stack, and Word addsmso-* properties and conditional comments on top. All of that is stripped before conversion, so you get the structure without the 11pt Calibri baked into it.
Where this is useful
- Moving a spec out of Google Docs and into a repository README.
- Turning a Word document into a GitHub issue or pull request description.
- Getting a Confluence page into a static-site generator.
- Pasting a formatted article into a Markdown-based CMS.
Does my document leave the browser?
No. The paste is read from your clipboard by this page and converted locally. Nothing is uploaded, which matters when the document is a contract, a draft or an internal plan.
